Upwex alternatives: Upwork tools that reach your phone, no Chrome extension needed
Upwex works inside Chrome. If you want Upwork jobs on your phone, in Telegram or as a call, these alternatives do it, from free to $89 a month.
Short answer: Upwex is good value at $7.99 a month, but it is a Chrome extension. It can't reach you when the laptop is shut. If that is why you are looking, pick an alternative that pushes to your phone: Upwork X-Ray (ours) sends free alerts to Telegram, Upspy adds WhatsApp, and OLL.E (also ours) rings your phone. If you want Upwex's AI letters and auto-bidding without the browser, UpHunt is the nearest match at $27 to $89 a month.
We make two of the tools in this post and say what they don't do. Everything about the other tools comes from their own pages, checked November 6, 2026.
What Upwex does well
Upwex puts a lot into one cheap plan. Inside the Upwork page you get a Check Fit score from 0 to 100, AI cover letters with reply-rate tracking, autofill for the proposal form, a 24/7 auto-bidding scanner, an analytics dashboard with an activity heatmap, multi-profile support and a Pipedrive link. Flex is $7.99 a month or $89.99 a year, with 50 AI credits a month. Connect your own OpenRouter key and generation is unlimited. The trial is 7 days, 20 credits, no card.
For someone who applies from the browser all day, that is a strong package, and few alternatives match it on price.
Why people look for an Upwex alternative
- Alerts that leave the browser. The jobs worth most are the ones you see first, and a desk is not where you are at 7am. Upwex's pages mention email reports and in-page notifications, not Telegram or Slack.
- No extension on a work machine. Some agencies and employers don't want browser extensions that read pages on their machines.
- Credits run out. 50 a month covers 50 letters or job checks; heavy users either buy packs or bring their own AI key.
- They write their own proposals anyway. Then most of the plan goes unused.

Upwork X-Ray: alerts only, free
You set up to 10 keywords and the filters that keep junk out: minimum hourly rate, minimum fixed budget, client countries, minimum client spend ($1k, $10k or $50k), and payment verified only. An AI check reads each match before it reaches Telegram. There is no extension to install and nothing connects to your Upwork account. In exchange it doesn't score jobs out of 100 or write letters; you open the job and apply as usual.
OLL.E: for when a message is not enough
A phone app for Android and iOS that watches Upwork, plus your email and messages, and calls you or sounds an alarm when something important arrives. It drafts the bid letter in the same step, which covers part of what Upwex's AI letters do. It watches more than Upwork, so it is more app than you need if alerts are all you want.
UpHunt: nearest to Upwex's features, off the browser
UpHunt reads each job against a prompt you write, scores it from 1 to 10, sends it to Slack, Telegram or a webhook, and can apply for you on the Auto-Apply plan ($89 a month for 50, then $0.40 each). It costs more than Upwex, but the alert reaches your phone. For auto-bidding prices across tools, see Upwork auto bidders, compared.
Upspy and Vibeworker: phone-first, with drafts
Upspy is the only one here that lists WhatsApp, and its Chrome extension fills the form without submitting. Vibeworker Pro adds iPhone and Android apps, AI proposals and a one-click apply extension at $189 a year; its free plan is a scored feed without alerts.
What you give up by leaving the browser
Be honest about this part. A phone alert tells you a job exists; it doesn't read the client's history for you, score the fit out of 100 or fill in the proposal form. Upwex does those things on the page, where you are already looking. Upwork X-Ray moves some of that work earlier, through the filters: if the alert only fires for clients with a verified payment method and real money spent, the job that reaches you has already passed the checks you would have made on the page. What it can't do is write the reply. That stays with you, or with a tool that drafts, such as OLL.E or UpHunt.
Who should stay with Upwex
If you apply from a laptop during set hours, like the 0 to 100 score, and use the letters, Upwex at $7.99 is cheaper than any phone-first tool that also writes proposals. You can also run it next to a free Telegram alert: the alert tells you a job exists, and Upwex helps you answer it once you are at the desk.
Using Upwex and a phone alert together
You don't have to choose. Many freelancers split the job in two: something on the phone to tell them a good job just posted, and something at the desk to help answer it. A free Telegram alert costs nothing to add next to Upwex, and the two don't overlap much.
- Set your Upwork X-Ray alert to the narrow version of your niche, with payment verified only and a minimum client spend, so it only pings for jobs you would open on a Sunday.
- Keep Upwex for the work at the desk: the fit score, the letter and the autofill.
- When an alert arrives and the laptop is far away, open the job in the Upwork app and send a short, specific reply from the phone. A quick first answer often matters more than a polished one.
If you find you never open Upwex because the alerts already tell you enough, that is your answer about which one to keep. If you use auto-bidding in Upwex, compare it with the other bidders first in Upwork auto bidders, compared.
Why the phone matters on Upwork
In 988,656 jobs we recorded over 12 months, 21% already had invites out minutes after posting and 6% were already interviewing. Clients start talking to people early, so the hour you are away from the desk is when good jobs go. Timing by day and hour is in the best time to apply on Upwork, and the numbers for your skill are on its skill page.

Questions people ask
- What does Upwex cost?
- Upwex has one plan, Flex, at $7.99 a month or $89.99 a year. It includes 50 AI credits a month (one cover letter or one job analysis each), unlimited if you connect your own OpenRouter key, and a 7-day trial with 20 credits and no card.
- Does Upwex send Upwork alerts to Telegram?
- Its pricing and feature pages did not mention Telegram or Slack when we checked on November 6, 2026. Its job feed works inside the extension and dashboard.
- What is a free alternative to Upwex?
- For job alerts, Upwork X-Ray is free and sends new Upwork jobs to Telegram with filters for keywords, rate, client country, client spend and payment verified. It does not write cover letters, which is the main thing Upwex does.
- Which Upwex alternative works on a phone?
- Upwork X-Ray and OutBid send to Telegram, Upspy also sends to WhatsApp, Vibeworker Pro has iPhone and Android apps, and OLL.E (our app) calls your phone. UpHunt sends to Telegram, Slack or a webhook.
- Can I use Upwex and Upwork X-Ray together?
- Yes. Upwork X-Ray only sends you a Telegram message about new jobs that match your filters, and never touches your Upwork account, so it runs next to Upwex without conflict. The alert finds the job; Upwex helps you answer it at the desk.
